Environmental sustainability is central to our ESG strategy. This is why we have set ourselves rigorous targets for the coming years. Our scope 1 and 2 emissions reductions include the transition to green renewable energy across our managed portfolio. Looking further ahead, our plan for scope 3 emissions reductions include the formalising carbon analysis into all our major procurement projects and embedding sustainability into supplier contracts.
The entire Lyceum Education Group will achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 or sooner. Following our strategic goals, we’ll hit our interim scope 1 and 2 target of 40% by 2030. And we’ve already set a further scope 3 target to maintain momentum

So we centralise procurement where we can to exercise more control and incentivise our suppliers to improve their practices. And we ask for transparency from the businesses we work with. So we can report on how they follow their environmental and purchasing policies to maximise value for minimal waste.
Through our investment in Sustainability Unlocked, we have formed a unique educational partnership focused on future skills. This collaboration with one of the leading providers of sustainability training recognises the ever-increasing demand from clients and learners looking to expand their skills in ESG and sustainability.

As well as achieving common goals for environmental, social and governance improvements, we’ve also launched our own initiatives. Our Volunteering Scheme enables our people to give back to their communities. Our partnership with Leadership Through Sport & Business offers their participants access to free learning courses. And our long-established Social Impact team provides legal assistance to people in need.
We already produce a range of tailored courses on ESG for anyone in our Group. Covering the entire spectrum of ESG, we focus on everything from an overall introduction to the topic to statutory reporting and sustainable investment opportunities.
We are also evaluating our taught programmes for more opportunities to introduce ESG topics into education to encourage action across a wider audience.
